  • Does acupuncture hurt?
The acupuncture needle is a safe, single-use, sterile needle that is the size of a human hair. The initial insertion can rarely be felt and is a very minimal sensation. Sometimes people describe a heavy or achy sensation at the needle site, or sensations in seemingly unrelated parts of the body. Overall, most patients find the experience to be relaxing and therapeutic.
  • How do I prepare for my initial appointment?
Bring an open mind, your list of symptoms, medications, and supplements, and any information that may be related to your condition. Our approach requires you to be engaged and active in the healing process. Following our guidelines will give you the best possible result. Wear comfortable clothing and ensure you have eaten a light meal before your appointment.
  • How long do cupping marks last?
The duration of cupping marks depends on the depth of their color after the therapy. If the marks are darker, they may take one week to ten days to fade. Most cupping marks fade within a week. These marks are a normal response and indicate the release of toxins and improved blood flow.
  • How long does a session take?
Your initial session can take 45-55 minutes. All follow-ups are 40-55 minutes and may include acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, electro-acupuncture, and suggestions for herbal or natural remedies. We tailor each session to your specific needs to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • What should I do after my appointment?
It is important to listen to your body after a treatment. Some days people leave energized, and other days, people leave feeling like they need to rest. Avoid anything too rigorous or overstimulating to the nervous system so that the changes can set in without interruption. Staying hydrated and getting adequate rest can also support the healing process.
  • Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance directly. If your insurance covers acupuncture, we can provide a coded receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider. Please check with your insurance company to understand your coverage and reimbursement options.
